Schools are an extraordinarily high traffic area with people of many ages and different vaccination statuses. No children under 12 years old are currently vaccinated. The CDC notes in their guidance that after cleaning, “disinfecting kills any remaining germs on surfaces, which further reduces any risk of spreading infection” when an EPA List N disinfectant is used. Prior to the pandemic, there was some movement in schools to try to reduce the spread of influenza viruses. Some school districts made attempts to purchase one or two handheld electrostatic sprayers to spray disinfectant on a limited number of high touch areas. Nursing homes, public transportation and every other market did little to nothing to disinfect.
